Lasagna Bolognese

Classic layered lasagna with bolognese sauce and cheese

Steps

  1. 1Make bolognese sauce30 min

    Heat olive oil in a large pan. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened. Add ground beef and brown, breaking it up as it cooks. Add tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 20-30 minutes until thickened.

  2. 2Prepare béchamel sauce

    Prepare béchamel sauce according to your preferred method or use store-bought.

  3. 3Layer the lasagna

    In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of bolognese on the bottom. Add a layer of lasagna sheets, then bolognese sauce, béchamel, and grated mozzarella and parmesan. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with béchamel and cheese on top.

    Typically 3-4 layers work well for a standard baking dish

  4. 4Bake the lasagna45 min

    Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

    Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner portions
