Banana Bread

Moist and sweet banana bread with optional chocolate chips

Steps

  1. 1Mash the bananas

    Peel and mash the 3 ripe bananas in a large bowl until smooth.

    Add the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well until combined.

    Fold in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix until just combined, do not overmix.

    Overmixing can make the bread tough, so stop as soon as the flour is incorporated.

    If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.

    Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Start checking at 45 minutes to avoid overbaking.

    Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
