Creamy braised beef

Tender beef slow-cooked with onions, butter and a creamy sauce

Steps

    Cut the beef into large cubes, approximately 2-3 cm each.

    Peel and slice the onions thinly.

    Pour olive oil into a large pan and heat over medium-high heat.

    Add the beef cubes to the hot pan. Add the whole garlic cloves, coriander seeds, salt, and black pepper. Sear the beef until browned on all sides.

    Brown the beef in batches if needed to avoid crowding the pan.

    Add the sliced onions to the pan with the beef. Stir and cook until the onions soften slightly.

    Season with additional salt to taste.

    Add beef stock to the pan. Add whole peeled potatoes and thyme sprigs. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until the beef is tender.

    Check the liquid level occasionally and add a splash of water if needed.

    Once the beef is tender, stir in butter and heavy cream. Simmer uncovered for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

    Remove the potatoes from the pan, mash them, and serve the creamy braised beef over the mashed potatoes.
